Student (49G) When I transfer a program from pc to calculator this block it. I try to restar it, but the only solution that I get, was the messaje: Warning "Invalid Card Data". Then I did read the user's guide and I did follows the instruccions, but the result was another messaje: "try to recovery memory" and any seleccion "yes or no" get a white screen and I need to repower the calculator. Thanks for your help

I agree with many of the comments posted. I have been through 3 HP48s since I purcgased my first in 1990 for land surveying. Great calculators with questionable lifespan. Now I need another replacment and find the HP48GII and HP49G+ hopeless in terms of the reliablity of keys for enetring information at speed. When these units are used all day ever day it needs to work. One of my collegues has a HP49G+ and the most used buttons are about to fall off after 1 year. Please wake up HP and produce half decent keys. Some of us really rely on your products. If anyone has a solution beit HP or other please email: mikejpeacok@hotmail.com

New Engineering Rules for Professional Testing do not allow the 48 or 49 series any longer. The HP33s is allowed and I hope that you will start managing a collection of HP33s programs here. I have seen several programs that are available through a Google Search, but I've trusted hpcalc.org for years and would like to come here for my programs. Thank you.

Why doesn't HP produce the 2005 version of the 'ole HP11C. Products like the 48GX are great for equations & simple programming, but for everyday desk use I need the 'ole 11C. HP needs to live up to their 'innovation' tv ads and produce an 11C replacement. My 32Sii which just broke gave me excellent service, but I'd like a good looking calculator. HP - WAKE-UP. Have MONEY and will BUY!

Is there anyone out there that knows where I can get my hands on a HP42S. The one that I have still works, but I know that it will not last forever. It was discontinued a couple of years ago. I have a HP48GX with an SMI CVCC card in it, but without the survey card installed, it is not nearly as user friendly as my trusty HP42S. I'd love to be able to find a back-up to it. If I'd have known that the HP42S was going to be cancelled, then I would have bought more than one when I purchased the one that I now have. Any assistance in this search would be greatly appreciated. Joe R. Mikels

I too have a dead HP41CX. It no longer will turn on even with new batteries. It looks like the best deal would be a HP 41 GX but I need survey card like the old survey pack for the 41 series. Alas, HP has discontinued its calculator line, (see http://www.hpcalc.org/goodbyeaco.php) so if you know of anything that might help, please let me know. Thanks.

I bought an HP41CV in '79, and loved it and learnt more programming on it than on any other machine. I bought an HP71 about 5 years later, and hated it. I bought an HP48SX in '90 and loved it even more than the HP41CV. Too bad that HP stopped making the best hand held calculators in the world, and I still can't use anything but RPN to calculate on numbers. Otherwise, I have to open scilab (freeware from INRIA) and set up some kind of program.

Hi there, I am well pleased with hpcalc.org. Together with Tim Wessmann's info I got my new HP49G to start playing my game. My game is: learning to build and to solve differential equations. In conjunction with the book Differential Equations by Paul Blanchard et al. the HP49G is a definite help! A great help has been the book on CAS that I downloaded from a Swiss Site. As Tim suggested, the two volumes on engineering math, available from greatunpublished.com is a very accurate help in using the calculator and provides good insights mathematically. Also, from your site I found the instructions to download the latest ROM beta-version. I am glad, people do get together and share their knowledge in your forum. My daily work is software development and maintenance with ORACLE Databases. Thank you, for letting me benefit from it! Hopefully I might one day be of help to others on the forum. Best regards Joerg Rauh

Recently my 12 year old SX broke. I quickly bought a GX and for fun I got a conductivity kit to go along with it. I quickly found your site and arrogantly walked in thinking it was the size of a closet. What I found was a place the size of Texas, and went from feeling pretty smart feeling like to the village idiot. Thanks for the site it is big help. I would like to know about places for Q&A, but Texas is a big place and I am still looking. Everyone needs humility, luckily I found it from some friendly people. Keep up the good work.

This without a doubt the most complete set of information, utilities, programs and general help on the HP48/49. I am the Station Eng for NATO satellite station in Belgium, and my HP48 is absolutely indispensable. From the first time is used an HP calculator, my trusty HP-25 (Still Working!) I loved these machines. As a programmer I am instinctively biased towards stack operation, and I simply cannot use an algebraic (UGH!) calulator. When you get round to releasing this site on a CD, let me know, because I simply cannot do without all the information stored here. Best regards, and many many thanks for maintaining this site.

I've enjoyed the HPCALC site for the last year or so. I've even contributed some programs I've written for the HP49G-HP48 calculators (Civil Engineering). This site is a wonderful find and HP calculators are the best - I've owned one since the HP25C first came out! I was sorry to hear the calculator division has been discontinued. I hope HP continues to manufacture the calculators they currently have available and maybe reconsider their decision. They should do a little marketing. It would be sad to see the TI become the standard for calculators.

Hello! As you have already seen, my name is Luis Alberto, and I am from Guatemala (that is in Central America). I just want to tell you that this page is really AWASOME!! (I'm not sure if that word is written well). It is the best page about hp calculators. I have a 49g, and there are thousands of programs for my calculator. I have a question for you: Someone told me that there are programs for the hp49 (also the 48 series) that "translate" from a BASIC language to the one the hp's use, and I couldn´t find it here so far, so Where could I find it? (I'm not sure if that kind of program exists, so I won't blame you for making a little fun of me). Well, I think this should have been the first question (How are you going to tell me to find something that does not even exist!!!) That's all, thank you for your time and I'll be waiting for your answer. P.D. I want to know also what is the difference between ROM 1.18 and ROM 1.19

Thank goodness Eric created this site! It is the ONLY place worth visiting for good information/programs for HP calculators. Kudos to Eric, shame on HP for offering a CAS with no support or good math programs. To any programmers reading this, please forget about games for the 48/49 calculators and concentrate on MATH programs! It's a calculator, not a gameboy! John Sesser

Unbelievable! If I'd only known this site was out there when I was in college. I have an old 28S (since 1990) and the case at the battery door is about to split. That leaves me on the hunt for a 48GX. Thanks for the site. I look forward to all the programs you have for the structural engineer. I've always told my friends their TI stunk up the room.

I'm a prof. at U. Chicago who tracks icebergs in the Antarctic. Is there anyone out there who can probram a HP 49g to (a) interface with a Garmin GPS35 as a data logger, and (b) turn off its display for "cold weather" conditions?

I'm an EE student who's sticking with HP. I am visiting this site to suppliment the scant amount of information obtained from the user's manual. I hope this 49g helps make things easier; not more difficult.

Hello, I am a third year EE student who has survived using paper, pencil, and a $5 calculator. I decided to get the HP49G to speed things up. I believe I made a good choice, but everyone else uses the TI's( I hate TI, but they seem to be easy for others). I have been experimenting for about 1 month and seem to get errors more than answers when I do anything. I have read the manuals completely and downloaded the adv. user guide. They suck in my opinion. I am about to buy a cable and add some programs, but I'm a slow learner and can't get good documentation. For now I want to learn as much detail about: Diff. EQ, Deriv, Integrals, Partial Fractions, Complex number math, and **LaPlace**. Can you help with some basic info and good places to find it? Some words of encouragement would also help because I have debated trading my HP for a TI or launching it into a wall. Thank You, Rick

I know that the HP48G is not the best calc available, but it has been just the best for me that is good enough. I and my 48G have been together for several years since undergrad, master and PhD. It screwed up and fairly slow compare to the TI sometime, but I still satisfy using it. At least the RPN, the solver, vector and matrix are what I like about this calc.

Hello, I'm a surveyor here in Alberta ... I own a 48GX as well as a 42S (a truly wonderful calculator...the 42...I hang my head in sorrow that they discontinued the line). The 48's OK, cause it's pretty handy to download stuff back and forth from the laptop. What I am wondering is anyone aware of a program to translate from Lat-Long to UTM? If not I guess I gotta make one . . . . is the 48 hard to program? I used to do that kinda stuff (programming) 10-12 years ago but I'm kinda rusty.

Hello, Could you help me try to get just a little more info about the upcoming Xpander. I’ve tried the HP way by asking for any info about it (all six representatives couldn’t pull their heads up to save face). They claim complete ignorance and refuse to look into it for me. Can you think of a way to request intelligent responses out of them? Please help! I am very excited about this new product and am just looking for simple answers… Thank you in advance. Sincerely, IndiAndy p.s. very nice website. thanks for all your hard work!

I am astudent in the civil engineering faculty in the TECHNION. I haven't got the chance to try programs yet because i have just got the cable. but your site did a big impression on me. it is very serious and can be very useful. i will be glad if you will get more civil programs. especially on analysis of frames. Just one thing isn't really clear to me : should i try hp48 programs on my hp49 ? i mean, if you put a program in the 48 section is it to 48 only ? thank you for your lovely site !! keep on the good work !!!

Very good site, I'll return frequently. I have had the 49G since July and like it very much but HP certainly did a pathetically terrible job with the documentation; I have found dozens of serious errors in it and the guidance that it provides is worse than barely adequate. The 49G is my 43rd HP calculator; I collect them and have everything from the HP35 to the 75.
