For a G, you'd have to break open the case, a process which I don't recommend (I say that and nobody listens) but which is well documented. You only need to contact pins 3 and 19. Add a circuit to your power suply which allows you to sense when the unit slips into light sleep mode (about half of full run current). Connect a small (reed) relay to pins 3 and 19 through 8k Ohms of resistance. Close the relay contacts once, momentarily, when the unit has been in light sleep for a miute or so. This will effectively press the NXT key and restart the HP48's deep sleep timer. You might want to add an LED that flashes each time the relay is activated, and a manual override switch, to help you avoid unwanted typos. Good Luck!
