DOOM for HP 48G - E1M1 in wireframe - v1.0 by TFI
==================================================

FILES
GAME.hp the game (Saturn machine code, 25,917 bytes)
DOOM.txt the launcher program (text in the HP character set)

MEMORY
You need about 28,500 bytes free BEFORE loading the files (check with MEM).
A plain 48G, cleaned up, has about 29,600: that is enough, but keep nothing
  else in memory.

INSTALLING ON EMU48
  1. Empty stack.
  2. Edit > Load object... > GAME.hp. "Code" appears on the stack.
  3. Type 'GAME' (with the quotes) and press STO. The stack is empty again.
  4. Edit > Load object... > DOOM.txt (choose "all files" if you don't see it).
A string starting with « appears on the stack.
  5. Press OBJ→ (PRG menu > TYPE > OBJ→): the program « 'GAME' RCL ... »
     appears on the stack.
  6. Type 'DOOM' and press STO.
Done: the VAR menu now shows DOOM and GAME.

INSTALLING ON A REAL 48G (cable and Kermit)
  1. On the PC, rename the files to GAME and DOOM (no extension): the
calculator uses the file name as the variable name.
  2. On the calculator set the transfer to BINARY
(I/O > Transfer... > Fmt: BIN) and receive both files.
Important: if GAME arrives in ASCII mode it is corrupted and running it
     will lock up the calculator.
  3. Press the DOOM key in the VAR menu: the string appears on the stack.
     Press OBJ→ (PRG menu > TYPE > OBJ→): the program « 'GAME' RCL ... » appears.
  4. Type 'DOOM' and press STO (this replaces the string with the program).

PLAYING
Press DOOM in the VAR menu.
WARNING: NEVER press the GAME menu key: the game must be started only
through DOOM; on its own it would lock up the calculator.

At startup the DOOM title stays on screen with music (the E1M1 theme) until
you press ENTER, EVAL or an arrow key; the first frame then takes about
3 seconds (initial setup). After that, 1 to 3 seconds per frame; keys can
  be held down.

CONTROLS
up / down arrow move forward / backward
  left / right arrow turn
left shift + left/right arrow turn a little (for aiming)
  EVAL fire (automatic aiming)
  ENTER open doors, press switches
ENTER on the GAME OVER screen restart the level
ON quit (also from the title screen)
second white key on top row (B, no ALPHA needed)
                                  cheat: invulnerability and infinite ammo
(dot next to the heart); press again to turn off

Bottom left: health (with the heart); bottom right: ammo.
Triangle = ammo, upside-down triangle = health: walk over them to pick them up.
The black disc on the wall is the end-of-level switch.
Walls farther than 500 units are not drawn (for speed).

NOTES
  - Quitting with ON during play saves the game inside GAME: running DOOM
again resumes where you left off.
  - On Emu48, while a key is held down the emulator runs at the real 48G
speed even if the speed limit is turned off: this is normal.
  - To free the memory: 'GAME' PURGE and 'DOOM' PURGE.
