HP 48G/GX Calculator Family Batteries

Battery Type

The HP 48 family of products come supplied with three AAA alkaline batteries.
It is recommended that you replace these batteries when necessary with three
AAA alkaline batteries of the same type.

Rechargeable Batteries

Because rechargeable batteries lose their charge rapidly toward the end of
their lives, it is recommended that they not be used in the calculator.  If
they are used, it is possible for them to "go dead" before the calculator can
inform you of a low battery condition.  The result can be a total loss of
calculator memory.
