HP-49 Operations

Configure the IOPAR before any other operation.  This sets the baud rate and other RS-232 parameters critical to communication with the PC.

Built-In I/O Menu
To access the built-in I/O menu, press .  This brings up the applications menu.  Select I/O Functions.  Then select Transfer from the list of I/O functions available.

On the HP-49 IOPAR can be set by selecting and then Transfer.  This will then display the TRANSFER screen with all the I/O parameters.  You can set Type to XModem but it will not stay that way.  When you leave this screen, the HP-49 will reset the mode to Kermit.

You may use this screen to select a file for manual transfer by moving the cursor to Name, selecting a file with Choose and then pressing the XSEND button.  You may also receive a file in a similar way with the XRECV button.

However, using XSERV is the preferred way to transfer files because it is so much easier.  To start XSERV, press right-shift, pause and then press right-arrow, the XSERV will start.  XSERV can communicate with the Connctivity Kit whenever the connect is valid.

XModem Server
Start the XSERV server by selecting right-shift, pause then press right-arrow.  The server may also be started from the CAT list under XSERV.
