Block game for HP Prime.

PrimeCraft is a block game in the spirit of Minecraft: a generated world of hills, beaches and trees, where you walk, jump, break and place blocks, craft your tools and survive the monsters of the night. Original graphics: no Mojang assets.

PrimeCraft 0.9.0 BETA - Quick Tutorial
======================================

Main menu
- CONTINUE: goes back to the current world, or loads the saved world. Only shown when there is one.
- NEW WORLD: choose the mode, SURVIVAL or CREATIVE, then a new world is generated (a few seconds).
- CONTROLS: choose your keys. One row per action, up to 4 keys each. Arrows pick the slot, Enter then the new key, Del clears the slot, DEFAULT KEYS restores the original ones. A key does only one thing: giving it to an action takes it from the one that had it. Esc (the pause) and the menu keys do not change.
- OPTIONS: the picture settings (see below).
- TUTORIAL: this text. Up/Down scroll one line, Left/Right one page, Enter or Esc goes back to the menu.
- QUIT: closes the game.
- Up/Down or 8/2 choose, Enter or 5 confirms, Esc quits.

In-game controls (default)
- Up / Down: walk forward, walk back.
- Left / Right: turn.
- 7 / 9: step sideways, left and right.
- 8 / 2: look up, look down.
- Shift or 0: jump. You can jump while walking.
- 1 or ALPHA: break the block you aim at, or hit the creature you aim at.
- 3, 5 or Enter: place a block, or use the item you hold (eat, shoot the bow, open a crafting table or a furnace).
- 4 / 6: previous slot, next slot of the hotbar.
- TAN (the letter I of the ALPHA keyboard): the inventory.
- Esc: pause.

Screen
- In the middle, the crosshair. Under it, a gauge follows the mining of the block you aim at.
- At the bottom, the hotbar: 9 slots, the one you hold is framed. The item you hold is seen in your hand, under the crosshair.
- Above the hotbar, in survival: health (the hearts) on the left, hunger on the right, armor above health.
- The frames per second are shown at the top left if you ask for them in OPTIONS.

Breaking and placing
- Holding BREAK on a block mines it little by little, and each press does a quarter of it at once: 4 presses break any block. Aiming at another block resets the mining. You reach a block 4.5 blocks away at most.
- The right tool is faster: the pickaxe for stone and ores, the axe for wood, the shovel for dirt, sand and gravel.
- Without a pickaxe, stone, cobblestone, bricks, the furnace and coal give nothing. Iron needs a stone pickaxe, gold and diamond an iron pickaxe.
- The broken block goes to the inventory, if there is room. Stone gives cobblestone, grass gives dirt, gravel sometimes a flint, leaves sometimes an apple.
- PLACE puts the held block against the face you aim at, never where you stand, nor higher than 30 blocks.
- Bedrock, at the very bottom, does not break.

Inventory
- The INVENTORY key opens it, and the game waits. At the top right, the 4 slots of the armor you wear; then 3 rows of storage; at the bottom, the hotbar.
- The arrows choose a slot. Enter takes it (it gets a green border), Enter on another one moves it there: the two swap, or the stack of the same item fills up. Enter on the same slot puts it back. Del throws the slot away.
- A slot holds up to 64 identical items. A tool, a piece of armor, the bow and the flint and steel do not stack: their number is their durability, which goes down as you use them.
- Esc or the INVENTORY key goes back to the game.

Crafting
- On the right of the inventory, the recipes. No grid: you choose the item to craft, you only need its ingredients somewhere in the inventory, and Enter crafts it.
- By hand: 4 planks from 1 log, 4 sticks from 2 planks, the crafting table from 4 planks, a brick from 1 sand and 1 dirt, wool from 4 strings.
- PLACE on a crafting table opens it, with every recipe: the hand ones, tools, armor, the furnace (8 cobblestone), the bow (3 sticks, 3 strings), 4 arrows (a flint, a stick, a feather), the flint and steel (an iron ingot, a flint), TNT (5 gunpowder, 4 sand) and the golden apple (8 gold ingots, an apple).
- Tools: pickaxe and axe, 3 material and 2 sticks; shovel, 1 material and 2 sticks; sword, 2 material and 1 stick. The material: planks, cobblestone, iron ingot, gold ingot or diamond. Gold is the fastest but wears out the fastest; diamond lasts the longest.
- Armor: helmet 5, chestplate 8, leggings 7, boots 4, in leather, iron, gold or diamond. You wear a piece by holding it and pressing PLACE, or by putting it in its armor slot. Each armor point takes away 4 % of the damage.

The furnace
- PLACE on a furnace opens it: three slots, TO SMELT and FUEL one above the other, RESULT on the right. Take a slot of the inventory, then Enter on a slot of the furnace moves it there. Enter on a furnace slot with nothing taken empties it into the inventory.
- It smelts by itself, 10 seconds per item, even with the screen closed, as long as the game runs (not during the pause).
- Smelted: cobblestone (into stone), iron and gold ores (into ingots), the log (into charcoal) and raw meat.
- Burning: coal and charcoal (8 items), the log, planks and the crafting table (one and a half items), wooden tools and the bow, sticks and wool.
- Breaking a furnace gives its contents back to the inventory.

Survival
- You start with a wooden pickaxe. Health and hunger go up to 20. Health comes back by itself when hunger is at 18 or more. Walking, jumping, hitting and healing lower hunger; at 0, you lose health, down to half a heart.
- Eating: hold the food and keep PLACE pressed a moment (not when you are not hungry, except the golden apple). Cooked meat feeds much more than raw meat; raw chicken and rotten flesh can make you hungry. The golden apple also brings health back very fast.
- A fall of more than 3 blocks hurts, as do monster hits, arrows and explosions.
- At zero health, you die: RESPAWN takes you back to the starting point, with full health and hunger. The inventory is kept.

Day and night
- A day lasts 20 minutes: 10 minutes of daylight, dusk, 7 minutes of night, then dawn. At night, the screen gets darker.

Creatures
- Animals: pig, cow (black or white), sheep, chicken. They wander, and run away when you hit them. They give raw meat, leather (the cow), wool (the sheep), feathers (the chicken). More come back by day when they are too few.
- At night, monsters appear on the surface, far from you. The zombie chases and hits. The skeleton shoots arrows from afar. The creeper comes near, hisses, then explodes and digs into the ground: going more than 7 blocks away puts out its fuse. The spider leaps and climbs walls; by day, it only goes after whoever hit it. Zombies and skeletons burn in the sun.
- Hitting: BREAK on the creature you aim at, 3 blocks away at most. The sword does the most damage, and a hit made while falling from a jump does one and a half times more.
- Monsters leave rotten flesh (zombie), arrows (skeleton), gunpowder (creeper), string (spider).
- The bow: keep PLACE pressed to draw it, release it to shoot. You need arrows.
- TNT: with the flint and steel in hand, PLACE on a TNT lights it; it flashes for 4 seconds, then explodes.

Creative mode
- Neither hits, nor falls, nor hunger hurt, and monsters do not chase you. Health and hunger are not shown.
- A block breaks in one press (key held: one after the other) and gives nothing. Placing, eating and shooting use nothing up, and nothing wears out.
- The inventory shows every item of the game instead of the recipes: Enter puts a full stack away. The crafting table and the furnace keep theirs.
- Jumping twice in a row starts flying, holding JUMP goes up; two more jumps stop flying to come back down.
- The mode changes at the pause: the MODE entry switches from survival to creative, and back.

Options
- DETAIL: FAST (80 columns), NORMAL (160) or FINE (320). Less detail means more frames per second.
- VIEW RANGE: 12, 16 or 20 blocks. Less range is faster too.
- FRAME RATE: shows or hides the frames per second.
- FIELD OF VIEW: 90, 100 or 110 degrees. The wider it is, the smaller the blocks look.
- Up/Down choose the setting, Left/Right or Enter change its value, Esc goes back and keeps the settings (options.txt).

Pause and saving
- Esc pauses: RESUME, MODE, MAIN MENU, QUIT GAME.
- Entering the pause saves the world (monde.txt), and the pause says whether it worked: the changed blocks, the player, the inventory, health and hunger, the time of day, the creatures and the furnaces. CONTINUE takes it back, even after switching the calculator off.
- Only one world is saved: NEW WORLD replaces the old one at the first pause of the new one.

The world
- 141 x 141 blocks, 32 high: hills, beaches and trees. Under the grass, dirt then stone, with veins of coal, iron, gold and diamond (diamond at the very bottom), and gravel. At the edge of the world, the sea up to the horizon.
- There are no caves: to find ores, you have to dig.
